I'm an old retired guy in Maine who the Lord has blessed far more than I deserve. After 35 yrs of living and working in Michigan, my wonderful wife and I moved to Livermore Falls in western Maine in 2021 to live with her sister along the Androscoggin River. Since then I've taken time (here and there) to write down some older songs and to add some new ones.
I have been singing in church choirs my entire life (well almost) ; my mother was a church organist and the children's choir director so participation was mandatory from an early age! Since the early 1970's I've played guitar (and occasionally violin or string bass) in church "bands" and impromptu instrumental ensembles for many different kinds/styles of worship gatherings: charismatic prayer meetings, Roman Catholic masses, Lutheran liturgies, Taize-style meetings, and these days at local Methodist and ecumenical services. In all these settings, and even more so in private prayer, I have found that the best purpose of music in christian life and worship is not to entertain, or instruct, or even to "set the tone" for preaching/teaching; but to entrain our hearts in the movement and presence of God's Spirit. And so in that sense... any worshipful song can be a processional Psalm.
