8. The Cross and the Flame

[Are we just ]

Living  to die?   or dying to live  ?

Reaching to have?  or reaching to give?

The cross and the flame.  together they bring

God's Life to the center of everything,

1.

Lord grant us the humility to turn our hearts to you 

to see in your own faithfulness a road we can follow too.     

In your death to see a victory, in your rising to see God's plan

for completing the whole creation that He began.

Lord grant us understanding when we are confused

and doubts abound that seize our troubled minds.

Let the light that shines in You always illuminate our way,

and guide us towards a new and brighter day.

Lord grant us strength, and courage to not be overcome 

in struggles with ourselves and with our foes.

grant us the power to persuade, and power to persevere,

and hope enough to love all those we fear.

his Spirit's the road  our hearts long to find,

if you open your eyes .  and if you open your heart

if you can hear through the noise.  then you're ready to start:

not living to die.    but dying to live
